Happy Easter to all! Jesus is Risen!
I was uploading some clips from last weekends show onto You Tube. While waiting for everything to process, I ended up going back through all the great shows, worships, and concerts I’ve played. Talk about good times! I think some of the best memories of my life have happened on stage – many with two guys who are now my groomsmen, might I add. And looking back, it’s pretty awesome/amusing/redonkulous how my musical “career” has come thus far.
Here are as many clips as I could find, that document this snail’s evolution.
2003 MD YFC Conference Bandfest – Confession: I wasn’t playing for God here, I was playing for Cheryl. (Damn I miss Mark)
Open Air Praise Festival (2003, College Park) — This really was one of the most fun worships I’ve ever played for. I thought I was so cool with my Marshall half stack and Hamer guitar (both Alan’s). But I wasn’t. I love watching fat RJ and skinny Nate haha. (And now I miss Joie!)
Funny Quote of the Day: “Damn Alan… Neal better start learning guitar or something!”
2004 Riverside YFC Conference — First time in National Band. Boy was I nervous! This was during my “I can’t hear myself” days. But its ok, I got to look over Cheryl’s shoulder for the chords. Geez, talk about unfocused!
2006 Houston CFCY Conference — Ok, big leap here from the previous video, but I finally “got it” in terms of the worship sense. Side note: ROD IS A BEAST!!!
2008 Jacksonville CFCY Conference — DUNKIN DONUTS! Whew-wee! No comments needed! Can I just give a quick shoutout to Gino and Dunn for hooking up the AC30 with Alnico Blues, and Lendl for picking it up. I’ve been dreaming about it ever since.
SOS Coffee House (February 2009)– This was my first gig with Mark, and the birthplace of Robot Solos.
Metuchen Diocese Youth Conference (March, 2009)– You can only hear me in the beginning here. I was gonna rip into a huge solo here, but I didn’t wanna cut anyone off. The gospel choir might’ve beat me up. Oh, and the bass player said he played for Alicia Keys in DC.
“‘Let all the earth rejoice,’ was her favorite line.” – Cheryl
Crossroads (Last Weekend)- My current evolutionary state.
So there ya have it. If you’re in one of these videos with me, man I totally respect you as an artist. It’s been an honor jamming and learning with you musicians. I’ve been so blessed to share the stage with you guys. Oh, and another confession, all of you in National Band have intimidated me at our first practice. I kinda just pray myself out of it and keep it to myself. But you don’t intimidate me anymore haha. Unless you start playing lead guitar, then you probably will.
Thanks for watching! If you played all the vids beginning to end, extra brownie points for you – I love you too! =) I know I left out lots of the other ministry conferences, and all of the WCS gigs, but they’re still in my heart. Of note are: SFC Conference 2003 (NJ), CFC Conference 2005 (Roseland Ballroom, NYC!), and whatever that club was in Baltimore where RJ poured water on Alan’s cleavage and got booed off the stage.
Be on the lookout for Snail’s first solo gig (once I get up the nerve to sing in not-magic mic and not-worship)!
Bonus:
My favorite video of them all.
